17.3 REALIZATION OF BOOLEAN FUNCTIONS USING SWITCHES AND LOGIC GATES

Let it be required to realize the Boolean function, f = PQ + R. This Boolean function can be realized using switches as shown in Fig. 17.8. PQ and R represent AND operation and the positive sign represents the OR operation. Fig. 17.9 shows the realization of the Boolean function using logic gates.

Similarly, consider another Boolean function

 

f = PQ + (R + S)

This is realized using the switches as shown in Fig. 17.10, and by using logic gates as shown in Fig. 17.11.
